Fishing Charter MaineCaptain Michael Sosik is a U.S.C.G. licensed captain and registered Maine Guide operating Bigger 'n Better Sport Fishing as his way to provide families with a safe and enjoyable ocean experience. Because he knows, first hand, the importance of having the "right tool" for the job, he equipped his boat with the best quality gear and tackle available to make your day aboard Bigger 'n Better the ultimate in deep sea fishing. His obvious love and respect for the ocean and its offerings is the driving force behind much of the activity on the boat.
An accomplished angler, Captain Sosik has been fishing these same waters for many years. Whether the fish are holding in the deep holes or cruising the tops of the many pinnacles that abound around Jeffreys Ledge, he can put anglers onto the fish. Many guests recognize published magazine articles penned by Captain Sosik, a noted angler and recreational fishing activist.
As a father of four and a grandfather of thirteen, the captain believes everyone should find a day on Jeffreys to be a fun and memorable learning experience. Captain Sosik practices "take only what you need to feed your family" and takes the time to teach his passengers about fish stocks and the consequences of overfishing. Although he may not personally agree with all of the rules and regulations set by the various fisheries management agencies, he does abide by them. In the end it matters not if you are a first time angler or an expert with rod and reel, fun and fishing go together on Bigger 'n Better and it's not fun if there's no fish.
Navigating to and from the fishing grounds on Bigger 'n Better is not just a means of transportation, it is an education. The captain can relate the lore and history of the areas encountered as you motor. He can answer questions you have about his vessel, the sea, fishing or just about anything else. If you opt for a non-fishing ocean adventure, you can expect to have him pointing out any of the many large animals whose habitat is the ocean off our rugged Maine coast.
